David Adler joins Chicago entertainment law firm as partner
Entertainment and media attorney David M. Adler has joined the Chicago entertainment law firm of Leavens, Strand & Glover, LLC, as a partner. The firm, now called Leavens, Strand, Glover & Adler, LLC, is one of the few law firms in the Midwest that concentrates exclusively in entertainment and media law
Established in 2008 by veteran entertainment and media lawyers Thomas R.Leavens, Peter J.Strand and Jerry W.Glover, the firm represents creative artists and companies in television, radio, film, music, publishing, theater, the Internet and new media.
Adler has extensive experience in private-practice and in-house legal counsel, working on matters that include corporate and intellectual property law, information technology, copyright and trademark registration, licensing, contract negotiation and enforcement, group-couponing, and social networking sites. He also concentrates in advising artistic talent and creative professionals in the arts, entertainment, media and sports industries.
A frequent speaker, lecturer and writer, Adler created and taught an e-business undergraduate course in the Arts, Entertainment & Media Management Department at Chicago’s Columbia College. He currently chairs the Chicago Bar Association’s Media & Entertainment Law committee and is an adjunct professor at DePaul University School of Law.
Adler received his law degree in 1997 from DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, where he wrote for the school’s Arts & Entertainment Law Journal. He received a B.A. in English and a B.A. in Arts in History in 1994 from Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind.
