Apply for the Bohemian Lawyers' Association of Chicago Scholarship
The Bohemian Lawyers' Scholarship Fund, a a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, awards scholarships to students of Czech, Moravian, Ruthenian, Silesian or Slovak ancestry enrolled in an accredited law school in the greater Chicagoland area every April.Scholarships range from $2,500 to $5,000 and to date, 110 scholarships have been given. Applications have been sent to accredited Chicago-area law schools, and can also be obtained by on the Bohemian Lawyers' Association of Chicago website's scholarship page. All applications have to be postmarked or e-mailed on or before April 2, and must include an essay, resume, and transcript. The award of scholarships will be at the Bohemian Lawyers of Chicago Installation Dinner in May of 2018 by a check payable to the recipient’s law school.
The Bohemian Lawyers’ Association of Chicago is the oldest ethnic Bar Association in Illinois. It was established in 1911 to support the interests of attorneys having a Czech, Moravian, Ruthenian, Silesian or Slovak ancestry. Twenty years ago the organization started giving scholarships to law school students in the Chicago area. As result of this desire to encourage law students with this ethnic background, The Bohemian Lawyers' Scholarship Fund, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was formed.
