CLE: Second Biennial Illinois Appellate Practice Seminar
Every litigator should understand the basic principles of appellate practice. Join us on Oct. 18 in Chicago or via live webcast for a full-day seminar that focuses on the key points in the appellate process, where making the right decisions can mean the difference between winning and losing an appeal.
The seminar is presented by justices of the Illinois Supreme Court and the Illinois Appellate Court, along with leading Illinois appellate practitioners.
Attorneys with basic practice experience in all substantive areas who have never participated (or participate only rarely) in appeals who attend this seminar will better understand: the issues to consider when deciding whether to appeal; the requirements for obtaining a stay; how to post security for a stay; the procedural rules that decide whether an interlocutory order can be appealed; how e-filing has impacted appeals, including how digital documents have affected the judicial decision-making process; how to craft effective arguments on appeal; how your oral argument can help you win or lose an appeal; and much more!
The program is presented by the ISBA Civil Practice and Procedure Section and co-sponsored by the ISBA General Practice, Solo & Small Firm Section. It qualifies for 5.75 hours MCLE credit, including 3.25 hours Professionalism, Civility, or Legal Ethics MCLE credit (subject to approval).
