2019 High School Mock Trial Invitational
The 2019 ISBA High School Mock Trial Invitational took place on March 9-10 at the University of Illinois Springfield. First place went to York Community High School from Elmhurst.
Second place went to Glenbard East High School from Lombard, and Evanston Township High School received third place.
The mock trial invitational program provides an opportunity for students to learn what it is like to prepare and present a legal case before the Illinois courts. Participating students gain a better understanding of the justice system and improve their knowledge, skills, and ability to articulate in a reasoned, thoughtful manner.

This was my second year to serve as a lawyer volunteer (after a 30+ year hiatus). My faith in humankind was renewed as I witnessed the dedication of the lawyers who travelled from all over the state to volunteer their time (and those who spent countless hours planning and organizing the event) and the preparation, hard work, professionalism, creativity and intelligence of the students. If you haven't volunteered for this activity recently -- be sure to sign up next year. You won't be disappointed.
