Marie made a very nice presentation. However, Marie did not mention the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, as amended, and the Internal Revenue Code, of 1986, as amended, in her presentation.These two laws contain provisions on Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs) under which one spouse can receive a portion of the retirement benefit of the other spouse. As the QDRO benefit could be the most important asset that one or the other spouse could receive I believe these laws should have been mentioned in the presentation.
