Verne Dentino 1947-2021
Verne Elliott Dentino, 73, of Peoria, IL, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, March 24, 2021.
He was born on August 12, 1947, in Peoria, IL, to Michael "Amato" and Arnita (Barto) Dentino. Verne married Ann Eldridge on March 21, 1973.
Surviving Verne are his wife, Ann of Peoria; daughter, Andrea and her husband, Terrance Nofsinger, of Chicago; granddaughter, Campbell Nofsinger; grandson, Barrett Nofsinger; and sister, Grace Kelly of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Caesare Dentino; and three brothers, Michael, Pat, and Mauro Dentino; as well as two sisters, Dianna Dentino and Sue O'Donnell.
A lifelong resident of Peoria, Verne attended St. Mark Grade School and graduated from Spalding Institute, class of 1965. Verne obtained a B.A. in Psychology from Wabash University in 1969, and went on to graduate from DePaul University College of Law in Chicago. After receiving his law license, Verne returned to Peoria, married and started his family. His legal career began with the Illinois Attorney General's office and later Verne worked as an Assistant State's Attorney for Peoria County. He then spent over 30 years as a solo practitioner handling a wide variety of legal and tax issues. Verne was an avid stamp collector and dedicated to his parish, St. Mark Roman Catholic Church. Verne was fulfilled through his volunteer work with AA, Cursillo and Prison Ministry. In addition to nourishing the soul, he was also dedicated to nourishing the people in his life with his home cooked Italian dishes.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., with a funeral Mass to follow on Friday, April 9, 2021, at St. Mark Roman Catholic Church, with Monsignor Brian K. Brownsey celebrating. A private interment of his remains will be Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
