United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit Seeks Federal Public Defender for the Southern District of Illinois
The United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit is accepting applications from all qualified applicants for the position of Federal Public Defender for the Southern District of Illinois. This position is headquartered in East St. Louis, Illinois. Deadline to apply has been extended to November 16, 2021.
This is a four year appointment at the current salary of $172,500. The Federal Public Defender provides criminal defense services to those who cannot afford counsel. See 18 U.S.C. § 3006A(g)(2)(A).
Applicants should possess the following qualifications: (1) a member in good standing in the bar of each state in which admitted to practice; (2) a minimum of five years criminal practice experience, preferably with significant federal criminal defense experience at the trial and appellate levels; (3) a demonstrated ability to provide zealous representation of consistently high quality; (4) effective office administration skills; (5) a reputation for integrity; (6) a commitment to the representation of those unable to afford counsel; and (7) a commitment to equal justice under the law.
