Richard S. Jalovec Passed Away January 19, 2022

Richard S. Jalovec passed peacefully the morning of January 19, 2022.

He was the beloved husband of Diane (nee Jozefowicz), devoted father of Jennifer Jalovec, and adored grandfather of Rosie Jalovec. Rich was preceded in death by his loving parents, Stanley and Lillian (nee Szczepanski) Jalovec; and stepmother, Frances (Flynn) Jalovec.

He is survived by his sister, Marcee Kasak; stepsister, Patricia Ransford; sisters-in-law Karen Jozefowicz, Elizabeth Jozefowicz; brother-in-law James Jozefowicz; dear nieces and nephews, Kassandra Day, Krystin (Lauren) Schleh, Nicole Kasak, Christopher (Kristi) Kasak, Stephen Kasak, Thomas Jozefowicz, and Jane Jozefowicz; by great-nieces and nephews, Avery, Britton, and Kendall Day; Brayden, Elissa, Landon and Carter Schleh; Olivia Schipano and Ty Kasak; and by a number of devoted friends of many years.

Rich was a graduate of Fenwick High School, '58; Notre Dame, '62; and Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, '65.

Rich served as an Assistant United State's Attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice, Northern District of Illinois and as an Assistant State's Attorney, Chief of Special Prosecutions for Cook County. He then entered private practice focusing mainly on criminal defense, corporate representation and municipal law.

Rich lived his life to its fullest be it tailgating at his alma mater Notre Dame; golfing with friends at Beverly Country Club; skiing until his knees could no longer take the double black diamonds of Vail; wine tasting in Tuscany; Umbria and Provence with family and friends; or simply enjoying all his favorite city in the world had to offer, his hometown of Chicago.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, July 18, 2022, at 9:30 a.m., at Old St. Pat's Church, 700 West Adams St., Chicago, Illinois 60661. Masks are required to be worn at all times inside the church (regardless of vaccination status).
