Illinois Supreme Court Swears in New Attorneys at Virtual Bar Admission Ceremony
The bar admission ceremony for the 292 new attorneys who passed the February 2022 Bar Exam will be held online on Thursday, May 12, at 11:00 a.m. Chief Justice Anne M. Burke will preside over the ceremony and administer the oath to the new admittees. Justice P. Scott Neville will make the motion to admit the class and Justice Robert L. Carter will second the motion.
“On behalf of the Illinois Supreme Court, I would like to congratulate the new admittees on passing the bar exam,” Chief Justice Anne M. Burke said. “This is a great achievement and we welcome you to the legal profession.”
All of the candidates set to be sworn in have passed the Illinois State Bar Examination and a required ethics examination and were certified by the Supreme Court Committee on Character and Fitness.
The number of admittees for each district is as follows:
• First District: 223
• Second District: 18
• Third District: 29
• Fourth District: 8
• Fifth District: 14
The new attorneys sworn in at the bar admission ceremony will bring the total number of licensed attorneys in Illinois to approximately 96,000.
