    Thomas K. Prindable joins Cogan & Power as Managing Partner

    Personal Injury Litigator Previously Served as Managing Partner of Clifford Law Offices

    Personal injury lawyer Thomas K. Prindable is joining the law firm of Cogan & Power, P.C., as managing partner effective July 15, 2015. He joins the firm from Clifford Law Offices, where he served as managing partner for almost two decades.

    ISBA teams up for Race Judicata

    The Illinois State Bar Association, Illinois Bar Foundation, Illinois Judges Association, Women’s Bar Association of Illinois, Alliance of Illinois Judges, Illinois Judicial Council and the Jewish Judges Association of Illinois are teaming up for Chicago Volunteer Legal Services (CVLS) 21st annual Race Judicata Sprint for Justice 5K Run/Walk. This fundraising event takes place on Sept. 10 in Chicago’s Grant Park.

    T-shirts will be provided for team members. All proceeds from Race Judicata go to the general operating costs of CVLS, which works to provide legal services to the poor and working poor of Chicago. The four organizations will host a tent that will serve as the main gathering point for team members. Food and water will be available at the tent. The entry fee is $34 through August 22nd.     Mrozek steps down as Chairman of Hinshaw after 26 years at helm

    Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP announced that Donald L. Mrozek, who has held the position of Chairman since 1989, has been succeeded by Kevin Joseph Burke, who was recently elected following Mr. Mrozek’s decision to step down.

    Assistant U.S. Attorney, Chicago Lawyer appointed Cook County Judges

    Justice Charles E. Freeman and the Illinois Supreme Court announced Tuesday the appointments of an assistant U.S. Attorney and a longtime Chicago lawyer as Cook County circuit judges.

    Assistant U.S. Attorney Carrie E. Hamilton was appointed as Circuit Judge in the 12th Subcircuit and Chicago lawyer John Fitzgerald Lyke Jr. was appointed as At-Large Circuit Judge in Cook County.

    Former Cook County States Attorney, Assistant U.S. Federal Attorney, member of C.B.A., I.S.B.A. and A.B.A. Former Executive Director of the National District Attorney Association and Executive Director Chicago Crime Commission. Patrick was a Eucharistic Minister and he also did hospice work.

    Devoted husband of 57 years to the late Della M. (nee Burns). Loving father of the late Colette, Patrick Jr. (Maureen), Colleen (Gregory) Gambla, Daniel, Beth (George) Vlahos and the late Baby John Healy. Cherished grandfather of Timothy, Thomas, Elizabeth, Sophia, Spiros, Patrick, and Jack.

    Justice Theis announces judicial vacancy in 6th Subcircuit

    Illinois Supreme Court Justice Mary Jane Theis announced on Wednesday an application process for a vacancy in the Sixth Judicial Subcircuit of Cook County.

    The vacancy was created by the retirement of Circuit Judge Leida J. Gonzalez Santiago. Judge Santiago had served as a judge since 1992, when she became the first Hispanic woman elected to the judiciary in Illinois. Her retirement takes effect July 2, 2015.
    Under the Illinois Constitution, judicial vacancies are filled on an interim basis by Supreme Court appointment until the next General Election. Justice Theis will make a recommendation to the Supreme Court after applicants for the position undergo a screening and evaluation process.
