    Family Law Offices of Peter R. Olson, Steele Law Firm join forces to form Chicago Family Law Group, LLC

    Effective March 1, 2012, the Family Law Offices of Peter R. Olson and Steele Law Firm, LLC have joined forces to form the Chicago Family Law Group, LLC. Peter R. Olson is a Partner and Kelly D. Thames is an Associate with the Firm. The new firm will be a highly specialized Chicago boutique family law practice focused on top notch client service and providing the highest quality legal representation.

    Joliet attorney Jean Kenol appointed to at-large Board seat

    Jean A. Kenol, an attorney with the Joliet law firm of Mahoney, Silverman & Cross, LLC, has been appointed to an at-large Board of Governors seat of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA).  The 27-member board directs the operations and activities of the bar association.

    ISBA President-elect John E. Thies nominated Kenol at the May 18 meeting of the Board of Governors. The Board approved the appointment of Kenol to a two-year term beginning at the ISBA Annual Meeting in June. The at-large board seat, subject to nomination each year by the incoming president, was established in 2011 to reflect under-represented segments of the association in its governance.

    Carroll appointed Circuit Judge of Cook County

    The Illinois Supreme Court has announced the appointment of Thomas J. Carroll as a Circuit Judge of Cook County, At Large. This appointment is effective May 18, 2012, to Dec. 1, 2014. This vacancy was created by the death of the Hon. Donna Phelps Felton.

    Warren Haskin 1933-2012

    Warren Haskin was a lawyer other lawyers turned to for advice on difficult issues.

    Mr. Haskin spent 40 years with the former Chicago law firm Bell, Boyd & Lloyd, since merged as the Chicago office of K&L Gates. He specialized in corporate, securities and commercial law and was managing partner of the firm before retiring in 1998.

    "Lots of us went to Warren for help," said John Blew, also a partner with Bell, Boyd and recently retired from K&L Gates. "He was a very bright man and a penetrating legal analyst."

    Mr. Haskin, 79, died of complications of lung cancer Sunday, April 29, in his Chicago home, according to his stepdaughter, Ruthie Beam.

    ISBA President John G.     Swanson, Martin & Bell welcomes two associates to its Chicago office

    Associate Andrew J. Albright joins Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP from Eichhorn & Eichhorn, LLP, where he was also an associate. He focuses his practice on Medical Negligence and Healthcare, Product Liability, and Commercial Litigation and Business Disputes. Mr. Albright received his J.D. from Indiana University – Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2010 and his B.A. from the University of Michigan in 2006. He is admitted to practice law in both Illinois and Indiana.

    Associate Claire A. Floore comes to Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP from Larsen Law Firm, PC, where she was also an associate. She focuses her practice on Asbestos Litigation. Ms. Floore received her J.D. from The John Marshall Law School in 2011 and her B.A. from the College of Charleston in 2008. She is admitted to practice law in Illinois.

    President Locallo meets with Moldovan Bar President

    Illinois State Bar Association President John G. Locallo recently met with Moldovan Bar Association President Alexander Turcan. Mr. Turcan was visiting the ISBA to get a greater understanding of the operations of bar associations.

    The Moldovan Bar Association has grown from 300 to over 3,000 lawyers in the last 10 years. The former Soviet republic is a land-locked country that sits between Romania and Ukraine.

    ISBA 2nd Vice President Paula H. Holderman named one of 15 Women Making an Impact

    ISBA 2nd Vice President Paula H. Holderman was one of six ISBA members honored by Chicago Lawyer Magazine as Women Making an Impact in 2012.

    Holderman, who will become ISBA President-elect at the Annual Meeting in June, is the chief attorney development officer for Winston & Strawn LLP. She took the lead to establish the ISBA's Law and Leadership Institute to expose diverse young women and men to the profession of law.

    Other ISBA members honored included Women's Bar Association of Illinois President Deane Brown of Beerman Pritkin Mirabeli Swerdlove LLP, Jean Golden of Cassidy Schade, Jill B. Berkeley of Neal Gerber & Eisenberg, Meighan A. Harmon of Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP and Amy Manning of McGuireWoods LLP.
