Morgan J. Ordman, 75, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 26, 2017, surrounded by family at his residence. Morgan was highly respected as an astute tax and business attorney and served as a trusted mentor and adviser to many colleagues in the legal community. He was a passionate and knowledgeable Chicago sports fan, with particular loyalty to the Cubs and Bears. Morgan was very devoted to his children, Michelle Rhine and Lee Ordman, and his grandson, Jaxon Rhine.
Morgan was born August 9, 1942, in Berwyn, Illinois. He graduated with honors from DePauw University in 1963, and received his J.D. degree from the University of Chicago Law School in 1966. Upon his graduation from law school, Morgan joined the Chicago law firm that eventually became known as McBride Baker & Coles. He was a partner for many years at that firm, serving as the Chair of its Tax Department and a member of its Management Committee. Morgan became a partner of the international law firm of Holland & Knight when it combined with the McBride firm in 2002, and he remained with Holland & Knight until his retirement in 2016. Morgan was a member of the Chicago, Illinois State, and American Bar Associations. He was a past President and Executive Board Member of the Tower Club in Chicago and served on numerous other civic and charitable boards.
Morgan was a caring and loving friend to many, and his clever humor and gentle compassion will be sadly missed by all those who knew him.
