    Jeffrey Andrew Walker

    Jeffrey Andrew Walker died January 31, 2017, as a result of a very aggressive and debilitating form of cancer. He died at home in the loving care of his wife and son.

    Jeff graduated from St. Ignatius High School Class of '74 iand s remembered by his classmates as a modest yet brilliant scholar-athlete. Jeff played varsity basketball; was highly ranked in his graduating class; an Illinois State Scholar; and won several State Latin Competitions. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard College ('78) and a Juris Doctorate degree from Boston University Law School ('81). For thirty-four years Jeff offered his legal talents to defend those most in need first in the State Appellate Defender's Office and then with the Cook County Public Defender's Office in the Felony Trial Division with his last assignment in the Legal Resources Division which represents indigents in post conviction matters and appellate cases.

    March with ISBA in the 2017 Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade

    The ISBA Marketing & Communications Committee invites you to march in the St. Patrick's Day Parade this Saturday, March 11. The Committee will be meeting at the Chicago Office, 20 S. Clark, 9th floor between 11 and 11:30 a.m. before marching over to the parade site on Columbus Drive. You may also meet the group at ISBA's parade spot No. 99. The parade kicks off at noon.

    Stacey A. McCullough joins Momkus McCluskey Roberts LLC

    Criminal defense attorney Stacey A. McCullough has joined the DuPage County firm Momkus McCluskey Roberts LLC as a partner. She was formerly the principal attorney at The Law Office of Stacey A. McCullough, Ltd., which she founded in 2005. She has practiced criminal defense for more than 20 years.

    McCullough graduated with a B.A. in criminal justice with high honors from the University of Illinois at Chicago and earned her law degree at Loyola University of Chicago School of Law. She is a certified Illinois municipal administrative hearing officer. She will focus on criminal, juvenile and traffic defense, handle administrative law matters, and litigate family law cases at Momkus McCluskey Roberts LLC. 

    She is third vice president of the DuPage County Bar Association and is an active member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the DuPage Association of Women Lawyers, and The Illinois Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

    Sheppard Mullin Chicago adds litigation partner Bill Kane

    William K. “Bill” Kane has joined Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP’s Chicago office as a partner in the firm’s Business Trial practice group. Kane joins from Baker Hostetler in Chicago. 

    Kane concentrates his practice on complex commercial litigation for a broad base of corporate, real estate, media and entertainment clients. He advises companies on regulatory and corporate governance issues and has significant experience representing clients in need of emergency injunctive relief for trade secret theft and unfair business competition. Prior to private practice, Kane served as Assistant Attorney General in the Illinois attorney general’s office for five years and handled a variety of public law matters.

    Kane received a J.D. from John Marshall Law School in 1986 and a B.S. from Miami University in 1982.

    IBF to host Lawyers Rock on March 16

    Please save the date for the Illinois Bar Foundation’s Lawyers Rock presented by Meyers & Flowers on Thursday, March 16 at the Lincoln Hall in Chicago. Enjoy live music and lots of fun as lawyers rock out for justice. The proceeds of this event help the Illinois Bar Foundation ensure access to justice and support juvenile justice causes through the Foundation’s M. Denny Hassakis Fund. General Admission is $50 per person and includes food and two beer, wine or soda tickets, and VIP tickets are $100 per person and include food and beer, wine or soda throughout the evening.     Super Lawyers recognize Max Elliott as 2017 Rising Star

    On June 1, 2011, the day the Illinois Civil Union Act was enacted, Attorney Maximillienne “Max” Elliott launched a solo wills and trusts practice to serve families and individuals who were generally overlooked by lawyers.

    “I always wanted to serve, in a significant way, people who were marginalized because they were erroneously perceived as not needing estate or business planning legal services,” Attorney Elliott explained.

    So, at age 50, Max Elliott started her legal career and 5 years later she has received numerous honors from diverse groups.
