    Romanucci Installed as President of Illinois Trial Lawyers Association

    Attorney Antonio M. Romanucci was installed as the president of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association on June 7. ISBA President Elect David Sosin attended the event.

    Shevlin to be installed as ITLA president

    Gregory L. Shevlin, a partner at Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer & Shevlin in Belleville, will be installed as the 59th President of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association (ITLA) on Friday, June 8, 2012, at its annual convention. Shevlin received his Bachelor’s degree in 1985 from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas. In 1988, Shevlin earned his J.D. from Washburn University School of Law in Topeka Kansas and was admitted to the Illinois Bar shortly thereafter.

    Shevlin began his legal career at the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s office where he served as an Assistant State’s Attorney until 1989. While serving in that office he gained significant trial experience prosecuting various types of cases. After leaving that position, Shevlin entered private practice, eventually becoming a partner at his firm. 

    Currently, Shevlin focuses his practice representing plaintiffs in products liability, motor vehicle accidents, construction injury, wrongful death, workers’ compensation and medical malpractice cases.

    Shevlin is involved in many professional organizations. He has been an active member of ITLA since 1990, having served on the Executive Committee and the Board of Managers before becoming president. He is a former member of the board of directors and past president of the St. Clair County Bar Association. He has served as president of the East St. Louis Bar Association. Shevlin is also currently a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, American Association for Justice, National Trial Lawyers Association, and Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys.

    Latherow installed as President of ITLA
    Jerry A. Latherow, of Latherow Law Office in Chicago, was installed as the 58th President of the lllinois Trial Lawyers Association (ITLA) on Friday, June 10, 2011 , at its annual convention. Latherow received his Bachelor's degree from lllinois State University and his J.D. from Loyola University of Chicago. Latherow began his legal career with significant trial experience at the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, where he was promoted to the Felony Trial Division within two years of being hired. There, he prosecuted cases in the highly visible Recidivist Trial Courts where he tried 25 jury trials to verdict, including a death penalty case. After nearly six years serving the public, Latherow entered private practice in 1982 working as a trial attorney at Corboy and Demetrio in Chicago. He opened his own law office three years later. Latherow has been professionally active serving on the Board of Managers of the lllinois Trial Lawyers Association since 1988 and the Executive Committee from 2002 until the present. Latherow is a six-term elected member of the lllinois State Bar Association Assembly. He is a member of American Association of Justice, National Trial Lawyers, Society of Lawyers, Trial Lawyers for Public Justice, lllinois Bar Foundation and the American Bar Foundation. He is a past president of the Loyola University of Chicago Law Alumni Association. "I truly consider it an outstanding privilege and honor to lead the lllinois Trial Lawyers Association.

    Raccuglia awarded Leonard M. Ring Lifetime Achievement Award
    Anthony C. Raccuglia of Peru, will be awarded the prestigious Leonard M. Ring Lifetime Achievement Award at the lllinois Trial Lawyers Association (ITLA) Convention on Friday, June 11. The convention will be held at the Oak Brook Hills Marriott Resort in Oak Brook. The criteria of the award is as follows: "This award is given annually at the convention banquet to someone selected by a committee appointed by the president. The recipient is someone who has devoted, as Leonard did, a substantial part of their life and their practice to ITLA, someone who has done more than is called for. Someone who had the standards of Leonard, the work ethics of Leonard and the commitment to ITLA that Leonard had. At the same time, it keeps alive the memory of Leonard Ring."

    Smith to be installed as President of Illinois Trial Lawyers Association
    Todd A. Smith, a founding partner of Power Rogers & Smith in Chicago, will be installed as the 57th President of the lllinois Trial Lawyers Association (ITLA) on Friday, June 11, at its annual convention. He received his Bachelors degree from Kansas University, his Masters in Business Administration at Northwestern University and his J.D. at Loyola University of Chicago. Smith is a member of the Inner Circle of Advocates, limited to 100 top trial lawyers nationwide. He is also a Fellow in the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Society of Barristers. He is a past president of the lllinois State Bar Association (ISBA) and a past president of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA), now the American Association for Justice (AAJ). Smith is also past Chairman of the ISBA Mutual Insurance Company Board of Directors. He was appointed to the Lawyers Trust Fund of lllinois by the lllinois Supreme Court and served a six-year term. He was honored in 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010 with his inclusion in the respected Naifeh & Smith publication, "The Best Lawyers in America." He has been recognized in the top 10 lllinois lawyers in recent Super Lawyer publications, as well as in the Leading Lawyers Network. He was also selected by Chicago Lawyer Magazine as its 1998 Person of the Year.

    Flowers installed as president of Illinois Trial Lawyers
    [caption id="attachment_1202" align="alignright" width="150" caption="Peter Flowers"][/caption] Peter Flowers of the Geneva firm Foote, Meyers, Mielke & Flowers was installed as the 56th President of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association in early June at its annual convention. Flowers, 41, obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1989 from Loyola University and his Juris Doctor in 1992 from DePaul University. Currently, Flowers concentrates his practice in the areas of medical malpractice, wrongful death litigation, workers' compensation, personal injury and product liability litigation. He has a special interest in the representation of children who have been injured by the neglectful conduct of medical professionals. Flowers is a member of the American Association for Justice, Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association (a member of the ISBA Assembly), DuPage County Bar Association and Kane County Bar Association.
