Click here to view our photo gallery from the Opening Reception. SIU Law School Dean Peter Alexander and Professor Alice Noble-Allgire walked ISBA members down the path of becoming a law professor. Alexander and Noble-Allgire discussed two key ways to do this. 1. Submit your resume to the AALS to reach hundreds of law schools. Click here to visit the AALS website. 2. Apply directly to the law school.

"Administrative Hearings & Appeals" and "Landlord-Tenant Disputes" will be presented by ISBA cable TV presentations during the month of July on Chicago Access Network Channel 21. "Administrative Hearings & Appeals" will air on July 7 and July 21 at 10 p.m. This program will be moderated by Nancy Z. Hablutzel and feature Patti Gregory-Chang of the City of Chicago, Jewel Klein of the Law Firm of Barry H. Greenburg and the Hon. Laguina Clay-Clark of the Circuit Court of Cook County. "Landlord-Tenant Disputes" will air on July 14 and July 28 at 10 p.m. Hablutzel will moderate this program featuring Michael Zink of Starr and Rowels and the Hon. Leonard Murray, Associate Judge for the Circuit Court of Cook County.

[caption id="attachment_1044" align="alignright" width="300" caption="Illinois Bar Foundation Grants Committee Member Tony Romanucci presents a $5,000 grant to Modesto Tico Valle, Executive Director for the Center on Halsted."][/caption] The Illinois Bar Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to announce a $5,000 grant to the Center on Halsted for its Legal Information Center, one of 32 grants awarded this year totaling $304,995. The Legal Information Center consists of the Legal Advice Clinic, offering a weekly advice clinic and providing pro bono attorney consultation an indicated; Legal Education Workshops, comprised of nine workshops on such topics as individual and couple legal agreements, family legal issues, transgender rights, LGBT violence and others; Internet-based resources; and Crisis Line/Information Line Resources. The Center currently maintains a pool of 14 volunteer attorneys. Specifically, this grant will allow the Center to develop podcasts of its legal education workshops and post those as well as relevant handouts on their website. Serving Chicago’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community since 1973, Center on Halsted (COH) began as an information clearinghouse and meeting space.

Laraia of Wheaton."][/caption] The Illinois State Bar Association’s Academy of Illinois Lawyers presented Laureate medallions to nine distinguished Illinois attorneys named to the 2009 Class of Laureates at an April 29 luncheon at The Standard Club in Chicago. The 2009 class, nominated by their peers in the profession, includes Thomas F. Londrigan of Springfield, a partner in Londrigan, Potter & Randle; Daniel L. Houlihan of Wilmette, who recently retired from the active practice of law after 45 years; Russell K. Scott of Belleville, a partner in Greensfelder, Hemker & Gale; John W. Damisch of Northfield, a principal in the Chicago law firm of Damisch & Damisch, Ltd.; Joseph L. Stone of Chicago, of counsel to Seyfarth Shaw; Sheila M.
