On Friday, Dec. 8, 2023, the Illinois State Bar Association hosted the annual Holiday Reception honoring the Supreme Court of Illinois at the conclusion of the 2023 Joint Midyear Meeting, which was held at the JW Marriott in Chicago.
During the 2023 Joint Midyear Meeting, the Illinois State Bar Association hosted a Member Appreciation Reception on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023, at the JW Marriott in Chicago. Members enjoyed the popular raffle baskets as well as food, drinks, and entertainment.
The IBF’s Champions Breakfast was held on December 8, 2023, in conjunction with the ISBA Midyear Meeting, honoring Judge Celia Gamrath with the 2023 Distinguished Service to Law & Society Award as well as the law firm of Stephan Zouras LLP with the 2023 Honorary Champion Award.
The ISBA Assembly met on Friday, December 8, at the 2023 Joint Midyear Meeting held at the JW Marriott Chicago.
During the meeting, the Assembly listened to a DEI presentation, "Ways to Improve and Promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Legal Profession," by Toussaint Romain with the Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy.
On Dec. 8, 2023, the ISBA Young Lawyers Division (YLD) presented the CLE program, Beyond Objection: Using Theatre Techniques for Effective Counsel, in conjunction with the Joint Midyear Meeting at the JW Marriott in Chicago. Speaker Nelson Velazquez (Nezprov Productions) engaged attendees in a number of interactive activities that are used by improvisational actors to help strengthen quick-thinking and story-telling abilities.
YLD Vice-Chair Hannah R. Lamore of Mahoney, Silverman & Cross, LLC, in Joliet, IL, served as the program moderator.

The 2023 Joint Midyear Meeting was held Dec. 7-8, 2023, at the JW Marriott, 151 West Adams Street, Chicago. Attendees celebrated the profession, discussed issues of mutual interest to the bench and bar, attended business meetings, earned CLE credit, and expanded their social and professional networks at receptions and dinners.
