Senator Dick Durbin will be the featured honoree and speaker at the 2017 Illinois Bar Foundation Gala at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago Friday, October 20. The evening also features dinner, dancing, and live and silent auctions. The gala, now in its 19th year, is a major IBF fundraiser.
Durbin will be awarded the IBF's 2017 Distinguished Award for Excellence. Simmons Hanly Conroy is the principal sponsor of the gala. A complete list of sponsors and other information about the event are at www.illinoisbarfoundation.org/gala-2017.
At the December 2017 ISBA Assembly meeting, two "Under 35" Delegates to the ABA House of Delegates will be elected, one from Cook County and one from outside Cook. In addition, two new at-large ABA house positions have been created, and the Assembly will elect members to fill those.
The nominees for the under-35 positions must be ISBA members in good standing from the appropriate area. The elected delegates will serve two-year terms commencing June 2018 and will join the ISBA delegation at the ABA meeting in Chicago in August 2018. The outside Cook County position has recently become vacant, and Emily Masalski, the incumbent for the Cook County position, is not eligible for reelection.
Likewise for the at-large positions; one nominee will be from Cook County and one from outside Cook. Both will serve one-year terms commencing immediately, and the delegates will be part of the ISBA delegation at the February 2018 ABA Midyear Meeting and the August 2018 Annual Meeting.
Nominations are due Friday, November 17, 2017. For more about the under-35 seats visit http://bit.ly/HODunder-35; for more on the at-large seats see http://bit.ly/HODat-large.
