Important Dates
- October 1, 2024 - Petitions may be created and signed
- January 2, 2025 – First day to submit bio and create webpage.
- January 31, 2025 – Last day to submit bio and create webpage.
- January 31, 2025 at 4:30 p.m. - Petitions are closed
- March 1, 2025 - Member dues must be paid to be eligible to vote in ISBA Elections
- Voting begins March 27 and runs through April 30 at 4:30 p.m.
- The results of the elections will be announced no later than May 7, 2025.
Voting Information
Ballots will be distributed on Thursday, March 27, 2025. It may take several days for paper ballots to reach members. Email (e-ballot) distribution will begin the morning of March 27th and conclude by 4:00 p.m.
The deadline for voting is Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. (CST) for all voting methods.
Who is eligible to vote? All members of the Association (except non-lawyer members) with dues paid by March 1, 2025.
What race(s) will be on my ballot? All eligible members may vote for 3rd Vice President. Eligible members with an ISBA address in the areas in which there are contested elections may vote in the appropriate Board of Governors race(s).
The following seats are contested this year:
- 3rd Vice President
- Board of Governors (Cook County)
- Board of Governors Under Age 37 (Cook County)
Pursuant to the Policy and Procedures on Association Elections, when a vacancy is uncontested (candidates filing equaled or were less than the number of candidates to be elected) each candidate is automatically elected.
What kind of ballot will I receive?
- If we have an email address: e-ballot via email
- If we don’t have an email address: paper ballot via USPS
What if I don’t want to vote using the ballot I receive?
- Members receiving e-ballots may request a paper ballot as explained in the e-ballot email. The deadline to request a paper ballot is Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
- Members receiving paper ballots may vote via internet following instructions provide on the paper ballot.
