ISBA Young Lawyer of the Year Diana Law sworn-in as president of Kane County Bar Association
During the Annual Membership Dinner and Awards Ceremony on June 2, Diana M. Law was sworn in as the Kane County Bar Association President, 2011 – 2012. Presiding over the ceremony was Justice Ann B. Jorgensen, Presiding Justice of the Illinois Appellate Court, Second District. State Representative Linda Chapa LaVia of Aurora, presented House Resolution 366 recognizing Diana as President of the Kane County Bar Association. Sixteenth Judicial Circuit Chief Judge F. Keith Brown introduced Diana and also read a congratulatory letter from Attorney General Lisa Madigan.
A managing partner at the Aurora Law Firm of Law ElderLaw, Diana has been a member of the KCBA Board of Managers for four years. Diana is co-chair of the Delivery of Legal Services Committee and is a member of several other KCBA committees. Named the Kane County Bar Association Outstanding New Lawyer in 2007, Diana was selected in 2010 as the Illinois State Bar Association Young Lawyer of the Year. In 2009 she was named an Illinois Super Lawyers Rising Star in the area of elder law and in 2010 she was named a Leading Lawyer in the area of elder law. Diana is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), and serves on the Illinois State Bar Association’s Elder Law Council and Standing Committee on Women and the Law. Upon taking her oath of office, Ms. Law becomes the youngest President of the 1200 member Kane County Bar Association in its history.
Joining Diana as officers are First Vice President Steven D. Titiner (Truemper and Titiner – Aurora), Second Vice President William Engerman (Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office) and Secretary / Treasurer Dean M. Frieders (Partner – Mickey, Wilson, Weiler, Renzi, and Andersson – Aurora). New board members for 2011 – 2012 include Rene´ Cruz (Gil and Cruz – Aurora) and Inez Toledo (Illinois Guardianship & Advocacy Commission – Chicago). Returning board members include Immediate Past President Patrick M. Kinnally (Kinnally, Flaherty, Krentz & Loran – Aurora), Gregory Maksimuk (Peskind Law Firm – St. Charles) and Scott M. Richmond (Partner – Ariano, Hardy, Nyuli, Richmond & Goettel – South Elgin). Board members completing their terms are Outgoing Past President Julie L. Cibulskis (Speers, Reuland & Cibulskis – Aurora) and Phil Lengle (Weiler & Lengle – St. Charles). The General Counsel will be Daniel R. Whiston (SmithAmundsen – St. Charles).
