The names of the 12 Fellows selected to participate in the 2024 Rural Practice Fellowship Program, which is designed to meet the critical need of providing access to justice for those living in rural areas with a declining lawyer population, have been announced.
I have had the great pleasure of congratulating the winners of the contested races in the 2024 ISBA Election. (A full list of election results is available on the ISBA website.) Today, I’d like to address those who finished in a slot other than the top one.
Sarah E. Toney has been elected Third Vice-President of the Illinois State Bar Association. Mark J. Lopez won Cook County and Ted M. Niemann won Area VI on the Board of Governors.
The Illinois State Bar Association’s Lawyer Finder Service provides referrals to local lawyers Mondays through Fridays. The Service makes referrals in a number of areas of law. For the month of April, 2024, ISBA helped 1,470 people in need of legal services find lawyers.

The Illinois State Bar Association invites Young Lawyers Division (YLD) attorney members to establish yourselves as experts in your practice area and compete for your share of $5,000 in prize money by entering the Annual Lincoln Award Legal Writing Contest.
Submissions should be useful, practical articles on topics important to practicing lawyers. Submissions will be considered for publication in the Illinois Bar Journal.
Voting is now underway in the 2024 ISBA Election. ISBA's election provider Election-America distributed ballots on March 27. All members of the Association (except non-lawyer members) with dues paid by March 1, 2024 are eligible to vote.
The deadline for voting is Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 4:30 p.m. Central Time for all voting methods: e-ballot or paper.

The ISBA President-Elect will appoint a member to one of the under-represented seats of the Board of Governors at the May 17 meeting of the Board of Governors. The member appointed to this position will serve with full Board member privileges for a three-year term beginning the first day of the 2024 Annual Meeting in St. Louis, Missouri.
