The Illinois State Bar Association’s Lawyer Finder Service provides referrals to local lawyers Mondays through Fridays. The Service makes referrals in a number of areas of law. For the month of March 2019 there were more than 800 referrals given. Here are the results for March 2019:

Real estate attorneys and general practitioners with basic to intermediate practice experience who attend this full-day seminar on April 24 in Naperville will better understand: how to start or expand your practice to include residential or commercial real estate; how to work effectively with a broad scope of clients and staff; how to create a diverse and inclusive law firm; how to protect your client from future litigation; how to recognize and refer a colleague in need; and the essentials of both commercial and residential real estate practices.

The Illinois Supreme Court on March 29 announced the amendment of Rule 274that pertains to multiple final orders and postjudgment motions. The amended rule states: “A party may make only one postjudgment motion directed at a judgment order that is otherwise final and appealable. The motion must be filed either within 30 days of that judgment order or within the time allowed by any extensions.” (New language bolded.)

Applications are now being accepted for judicial vacancies in the Tenth and Eighth Subcircuits of Cook County, according to an announcement made by the Illinois Supreme Court. The vacancy of the Tenth Subcircuit judicial position was created by the retirement of Judge Thomas Allen. The vacancy of the Eighth Subcircuit judicial position was created by the retirement of Judge John Fleming.
