Legislation
The Section Council reviewed 89 bills that may affect their members’ practice area. Highlights of the most recent legislative session include:
- Senate Bill 109 amends the Practitioner Order for Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST) forms to remove the requirement for a witness signature on the form and for the recognition of differing POLST forms as authorized by other entities.
- House Bill 704 amends the Health Care Surrogate Act to remove the requirement that an attending physician or qualified physician be licensed specifically in Illinois.
- House Bill 1063 repeals the criminal prosecution for transmission of HIV.
