Continuing Legal Education

Section members receive discounts on section-sponsored CLE programs. During the 2020–21 bar year, the Section sponsored or co-sponsored the following programs:

ISBA Central Discussions

ISBA Central communities allows section members to pose questions, answer questions, and share information with fellow section members. Members of the section get free access to the section’s community. Joining any section also grants you access to the Transactional and Litigation communities. Legislation

The Section Council reviewed 17 bills that may affect their members’ practice area. Highlights of the most recent legislative session include:

  • Senate Bill 225 prohibits the Secretary of State from providing facial recognition search services or photographs to law enforcement to enforce federal immigration laws.
  • House Bill 2790 provides that the Cook County public defender, without fee or appointment and with the concurrence of the county board, may act as attorney to noncitizens in immigration cases.
  • Senate Bill 667 creates The Illinois Way Forward Act to expand on the existing Illinois TRUST Act and the Voices of Immigrant Communities Empowering Survivors (VOICES) Act.
