The Illinois Bar Foundation held its 20th Annual Black Tie Gala on Oct. 19 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago. During the event, Tyrone C. Fahner, a partner at Mayer Brown, received the foundation’s 2018 Distinguished Award for Excellence.
The Illinois State Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division held a networking and social event, Day at the Orchard, on Oct. 6 at County Line Orchard in Hobart, Ind.
ISBA President James McCluskey was sworn in as an associate judge of the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit on September 13, 2018.
The ISBA hosted a fall happy hour on September 14, 2018, at Fremont in Chicago. The networking event was co-sponsored by the Young Lawyers Division, Family Law Section Council, and Real Estate Law Section Council.
The ISBA is part of a statewide campaign to place a framed copy of a famous Abraham Lincoln photograph in courthouses in each of Illinois’ 102 counties in commemoration of the state’s bicentennial.
The ISBA honored Section Council and Committee awardees for the 2017-2018 year during a reception July 18 at Roanoke in Chicago.
The ISBA hosted the 6th Annual Minority Bar CLE Conference and reception from June 20-21 in the Chicago Regional Office. Participating bar associations included Illinois State Bar Association, Filipino American Lawyers Association, Chinese American Bar Association, Cook County Bar Association, South Asian Bar Association, Korean American Bar Association, Asian American Bar Association, Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois, the Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago, and Black Women Lawyers' Association.
The ISBA Assembly met on Saturday, June 16, during the Annual Meeting at The Abbey Resort in Fontana, Wisconsin. Several awards were presented during the meeting.
After the installation ceremony, a reception was held in honor of James McCluskey, the 2018-2019 ISBA president. Attendees enjoyed cocktails, dancing, and entertainment.
